Polio Vaccinations

Polio Vaccinations

The polio booster offer in London will be paused over the Christmas period and early January. Information on the future of the programme will be made available shortly.

If you already have a GP appointment booked for the polio booster, you should still attend. However, walk-in vaccination sites and pharmacies will no longer be providing this service.

All children remain eligible for their routine polio vaccinations and these continue to be available from your GP. You can check your child’s vaccination status in their red book (Personal Health Record), and you should contact your GP Practice to book a vaccination if your child is not fully up-to-date.  Polio is serious and can result in life-long paralysis and other disabilities, and in some cases, even death. There is no cure for polio, immunisation is the only protection.

You can check what vaccines your child should have received online: nhs.uk/vaccinations

If you think your child is behind on any of their other routine immunisations, please contact your GP to make an appointment.
